A self-hosted Meteroid install sends one anonymous report a day. It tells us how many installs are running, which versions are in use and roughly how much they bill, so we know where to spend our time. It contains counts, never your data: no names, emails, ids of your customers or invoices, credentials or hostnames. The code that builds it is open source (instance_telemetry in the repository).

Turning it off

Set METEROID_TELEMETRY=off (or DO_NOT_TRACK=1) on the worker, which sends the report. With the Helm chart, set global.usageTelemetry: false. To see what would be sent instead, set METEROID_TELEMETRY_DEBUG=1: the worker logs the report every hour and never sends it.

What the report contains

The worker sends it to https://api.metero.id/oss/v1/telemetry, the host installs already call for exchange rates. The install is identified by a random UUID stored in your database, unrelated to your license. The collector keeps the country derived from the IP address, never the address.
Customers, subscriptions, plans, metrics, invoices, currencies and integrations are counted in Production tenants only. billed_30d_usd is a band (0, <1k … 10M+), never the amount, and object_storage is the URL scheme only. The license usage report an Enterprise install sends under its license is separate from this one.
