The Test gateway is a simulated payment provider. It lets you try the whole payment journey in a test environment — checkout, invoice payment and the Customer Portal — without a PSP (Stripe, GoCardless or Mollie) account, and without entering any real card or bank details. The integration enables:
  • Card payments: successful payments, declined cards, 3-D Secure authentication and pending payments.
  • Direct Debit (SEPA, ACH and Bacs): mandate setup, successful and refused debits.
  • Simulated provider events: settle or fail a pending payment, simulate a refund or a chargeback, directly from the invoice page.

Prerequisites

  • A Development or Sandbox tenant (see Tenants).
📌 Note: The Test gateway is not available on Production tenants. A tenant connected to the Test gateway can’t be moved to Production.

How to Set It Up

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations in your Meteroid dashboard.
  2. Under Payment Providers, select Test gateway and click Connect.
  3. Choose whether to use it for card payments, direct debit, or both. You can also do it later in Settings > Payment methods (see Supported Payment Method).

Test scenarios

When paying (in the checkout or the Customer Portal), you need to pick one of the test scenarios below, which sets the outcome of the payment.

Simulate provider events

With a real provider, some events arrive later (a pending payment that is confirmed, a refund made from the provider’s dashboard, a chargeback). With the Test gateway, you trigger them yourself: open the invoice and, in the payment list, use the Test gateway actions next to the payment. 📌 Need help with the Test gateway? 👉 Contact us at hey@meteroid.com.
